Rio to host FIDES conference for third time

38th Western Hemisphere Insurance Conference will bring together industry players from 20 countries to debate the future of the insurance and reinsurance industry

For the third time ever, the Inter-American Federation of Insurance Companies (FIDES) has chosen the city of Rio de Janeiro to host its Western Hemisphere Insurance Conference. The 38th edition – FIDES Rio 2023 – will take place from September 24 to 26, 2023, bringing together 20 delegations of insurers and reinsurers from Latin America, the United States and Spain.

Since 1946, FIDES has held this conference every two years, growing into the foremost insurance industry content and relationship platform in the Americas and the Iberian Peninsula. Rio has hosted two editions before: the 5th edition in 1954 and the 17th in 1979.

FIDES’ first conference occurred in New York. Since then, the organization has had the mission of promoting the development of insurance and reinsurance, highlighting the great benefits that the sector generates for the economies and people of FIDES’ 20 member countries.

The Western Hemisphere Insurance Conference is usually held every other year, although the 2021 edition was postponed to 2023 because of the pandemic. It is one of the main events in the global insurance market, fostering discussion of sensitive and strategic topics for the industry’s future.
